MORE FROM ROME

These pictures were taken from up on the Palatine Hill looking down onto the forum as the senators once did from their palaces.

Left:  You can see the Campidoglio where the capitol still resides (big pink bldg) with the big monument behind.  Below is what is still standing or being excavated from the Roman Forum which included many buildings.  Beside the dome on the right of this picture is a prison where many people were kept in the basement , including Saints Paul and Peter.

On the right you can see the Colosseum in the background the Arch of Titus leading into the forum.  This was a huge place, much bigger than we imagined!

Top Left:  On the way to the forum with our umbrellas!  A little rain couldn't
                stop us!

Top Right:  In front of the Campidoglio.  This square was designed
by Michaelangelo in 1536, but he died before the buildings
were completed. "Capitol Square", was oriented towards St.
Peter's Square, the Christian equivalent (or the Vatican) that sits
                across the river.

Right:   Inside the spectacular Santa Maria sopra Minerva basilica.  It
was built in 1280 on top of a pagan temple site, and is Rome's
only Gothic style architecture.  St Catherine of Siena is buried
           here, among others.

Below:  With our friends Imo and Jennifer!  Chase is asleep on a chair in
the bottom right corner (you can just see his head and red coat!)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN,TOO!
Can you guess who Glen is??  Chase also wanted to be a wizard, but with a pointy hat!
