His
real name is Adelmo Fornaciari , nicknamed Zucchero (Sugar) and so he is
known all over the world.
He was born in a small town Roncocesi on September 25th in 1955.
He began getting involved in music while learning how to play organ in a
local church and later he was captivated by rhythm and blues.
During the 1970s the young artist joined rhythm and blues bands.
His album's debut was released in1983 : "Un po' di zucchero"
followed by "Zucchero & Randy Jackson band" and
"Rispetto", one of his first hits.
In1986 the artist became the best selling pop singer in Italy after
"Blues",which included his first smash "Senza una
Donna" (Without a woman).
In 1990 Zucchero played with
Eric Clapton, touring Europe together. In 1990 he was the only Latin artist
participating in Woodstock and in the tribute to Freddie Mercury at
London's Wembley Stadium.
He was one of best friends of Pavarotti and they recorded a song
"Miserere" together. |
